Need A VPN In Belize: Grab Free 30-Days Now

VPN for International Travel

Get a VPN before you travel abroad. It’ll make things a lot easier on you! Using a VPN in Belize will help in masking your specific geographical location and making it appear that you’re somewhere else, tricking blocked websites into allowing you access. From using it on your downtime for Hulu and Netflix to getting work done while abroad, you’ll be happy to already have a VPN.

What is a VPN?

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, allows you to create a secure connection to another network over the internet. VPNs can be used to access region-restricted websites, shield your browsing activity from prying eyes on public Wi-Fi, and more.

Using a VPN changes your IP address, the unique number that identifies you and your location in the world. With a new IP address, you can browse the internet as if you were in the UK, Germany, Canada, Japan, or virtually any country, if the VPN service has servers there.

  • Consumers use VPNs to keep their online activity private and ensure access to sites and services that might otherwise be restricted.
  • Companies use VPNs to connect far-flung employees as if they were all using the same local network at a central office, but with fewer benefits for individuals than a personal VPN.

Changing your IP address with a VPN helps shield your identity from websites, apps, and services that want to track you. Good VPNs also prevent your internet provider, mobile carrier, and anyone else who may be listening from seeing your activity, thanks to a layer of strong encryption.

If you’re in a part of the world that restricts access to Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, or other sites and services, using a VPN will let you regain access to the free internet. You can also use a VPN to break through firewalls on school or office networks.

This little video explains it in further detail

Do you need a VPN in Belize?

If you are remote working or need to log in to a server for your job while vacationing, you MAY need a VPN in Belize. Here’s a guest example:

At Drift Inn, a guest came into an issue where he realized he could not log-in to his teacher portal while outside the country remotely working. He had worked from home and traveled within the US with no problems. It was not till he arrived in Belize and was preparing for his class he realized he couldn’t log in. To solve the issue before his class started, Drift Inn hotel reception gave him our Express VPN log-in. And ta-da! He was “in the United States” and his programs worked smoothly again.

Overall, Belize does not limit websites or access to citizens when it comes to the internet. The main appeal is websites that do not permit access from abroad.

Many expats in Belize use VPNs to access channels they can’t access on the Belize cable network. You can choose your location down to a city. I am typically in “Miami – 2” because it works well with Netflix. If I need to access government sites in the States, I typically turn on my VPN since the pages will not load from Belize.

Which VPN should you buy?

ExpressVPN is a great option to use for a VPN in Belize and around the world. You can choose from over 90 locations. And, besides hiding your IP address and mixing your traffic with that of other users, ExpressVPN also encrypts your traffic between secure VPN servers and your computer, so that it can’t be read by third parties in between, such as your internet service provider or your local Wi-Fi operator. It even works in repressive states like China, Indonesia, and Iran, where many sites are regularly blocked.

ExpressVPN uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) with 256-bit keys—also known as AES-256. It’s the same encryption standard adopted by the U.S. government and used by security experts worldwide to protect classified information. This company has servers in more than 160 locations around the world.

What are the issues with using a VPN in Belize?

The downside of using a VPN in Belize (or anywhere) is that it slows down the internet speed while you are using it. Belize’s WIFI and internet speed is slower than what you find in some countries, so this could be a nuisance. But nothing is worse than not being able to access websites or programs you need, like the teacher had at the hotel. Everything else about using a VPN is great – since it adds security and greater access.

At Drift Inn we have excellent internet connection speeds (for Belize standards) and offer great deals for remote workers and extended stay guests.  Check out Drift Inn’s hotel rooms here!
