Please note all information below is from the period of 2020-2021 during the pandemic. Belize has no current regulations or requirements.

 

Drift Inn New Norm Procedures to keep staff and guests safe.

Please take the time to read the following information about the Belize Tourism Board’s (BTB) required procedures and protocols for hotels. These new norm procedures and protocols safeguard both our guests and community from the spread of COVID-19.

New Norm Procedures at Arrival

Get tested.

On arrival in Belize City you will present customs/immigration with a negative COVID-19 test that was taken within the last 72 hours. If not, you will take a rapid test (at your own expense) upon entry. We strongly encourage bringing a negative test as if you test positive on arrival you will be quarantined at a facility in Belize City at your own expense for 14 days. You will not be permitted to take a flight home until the completion of those 14 days.

How you’re arriving.

Between Belize City and San Pedro you will need to book the water taxi or puddle jumper flight to get to the island. Look into Maya Island Air or Tropic Air to book this. Our staff will welcome you once you arrive in San Pedro to transport you and your party to Drift Inn if you let us know your arrival time!

New Norm Procedures During your Stay

Our check-in process is updated for the “new norm” of contactless check-in. Please fill out this Guest Registration Form. We will enter this information into the BTB system so you will not have to fill out a check-in form in person.

Masks required by law.

Please make sure everyone in your party has enough for your stay (reusable or disposable). Everyone must wear one any time outside of the room. The local law enforcement most assuredly enforces this (up to $5000 BZD fine). 

Temperature checks.

As part of the new check-in process we are required to take the temperature of everyone in your party (via wireless infrared thermometer). Additional temperature checks at reception desk as needed.

Touchless transactions.

Please fill out a Guest Registration Form (takes <4 minutes and you’ll need your passport). This information is required by Belize law for us to collect as hotels.

Your accommodation payment is processed at the time of your booking (to avoid cash transactions and running credit cards at check-in). Sandbar will charge the credit card you provide on file for restaurant/bar purchases at the end of your stay. You will receive your final bill prior to being charged to review via e-mail. A Credit Card Authorization Form must be submitted by e-mail or Whatsapp before arrival.

Housekeeping by request only.

With the “new norm”, we offer housekeeping every 3 days to protect our guests and our staff. We ask that when your trash is full that you please securely tie it and set it outside your room as housekeeping staff are not permitted to remove any trash that is not sealed.  If you need fresh linens, a laundry bag will be provided for you to put your used linens into, and our cleaning staff will place new linens or supplies in the room or hand them directly to you. Communicate over Whatsapp with our receptionist to schedule housekeeping and trash pickup.

Property access.
Drift Inn guests are welcome to hang out at the wrap-around veranda, small pool, courtyard, restaurant, large over-the-water deck, and utilize kayaks and tubes in the water for your enjoyment! Sandbar Restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can order online, have food delivered, and eat in your room if you wish.

Enjoy tours.

If you would like to book a tour we have an on-site tour operator for you. If you are interested in snorkeling, diving, or fishing, we can hook it up. We can also organize trips to the mainland to see Maya sites, waterfalls, and more. Find some tour options we have available here.

If you get sick.

Should you contract COVID-19 during your time here you will be quarantined to your room unless you require hospitalization. Any additional nights stay will be your own expense. Our hotel Gold Standard Manager and staff will assist you in getting things you need while sick and quarantined. A $100 USD fee for third party certified cleaning services will also be added to your bill to safely clean the room after your departure.

Payment at checkout.

Like check-in, your check-out procedures will be contactless. We will send you your final bill from the bar/restaurant via email before being charged.

Leaving Drift Inn.

When leaving your room please ensure that you have sealed your garbage and bagged your linens for our housekeeping staff. Please arrange your drop-off  via Whatsapp the day before with Drift Inn reception if you want to utilize this service.

Drift Inn staff is committed to providing you the most enjoyable vacation while maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness and sanitation. We understand some of these “new norm” procedures and requirements can be burdensome. However, we will do everything we can to ensure you have the best possible time!
